Born in the early 20th century in the Black American community, Blues dancing was originally a patchwork of solo movements, what we would today call “solo roots.” It very quickly evolved into a partner dance.
With its simple foundations, fluid style and slow-to-medium musical rhythms, this dance allows partners to quickly develop connection and ease with one another. That said, the range of technical subtleties is vast! From grooving on Delta Blues, to mini dips on Ballroom Blues, to almost disco-like movements on Funky Blues, there is plenty to enjoy!
