Skill Levels
Please read the descriptions below carefully to determine your level.
A level does not necessarily correspond to a school year. Moving up to the next level in September is not automatic. Motivation, personal availability, attendance regularity and social dancing are all factors that shape each dancer’s progress. Your teachers will guide you towards the most suitable level.
Beginner

You have never taken classes (in the chosen dance) or have perhaps attended a few introductory sessions.
We have designed a discovery programme just for you: learning the basic step and basic figures, simple variations at slow and medium tempos. Our advice: don’t hesitate to come to the evening socials — you don’t know it yet, but you’re about to get hooked…

Intermediate

You dance and have taken regular classes for at least 6 months to 1 year. You have a good command of your basic figures but are not yet comfortable improvising and/or applying all the concepts covered in your first year.

On the programme: an in-depth revision course, followed by new figures, technical concepts and musicality.

Inter-Advanced

You have been dancing for at least 2 years and are starting to attend workshops in France and Europe. You have a solid command of basic figures and rhythm. You want to feel more comfortable leading & following across all music styles.

On the programme: discovery and learning of figures, technical concepts and more complex variations to develop your technical skills, your musical ear, and master the tricks that allow you to lead or follow any dancer regardless of their level.

Advanced

You have been dancing for at least 3 years, through regular classes, workshops and evening socials. You have a solid command of basic figures and rhythm. You are at ease in social dancing and are looking to develop your style as well as your technical and musical skills.

On the programme: discovery and learning of figures, technical concepts and more complex variations to refine your connection, your feel, your partnership and allow you to dance comfortably at any tempo.

Confirmed

You have been dancing for 4 years or more. Your basic technique, rhythm and balance are well-mastered at all tempos, and you are looking to explore the richness of musicality. Your partners feel at ease dancing with you, as you follow everything or lead in a comfortable way.

On the programme: developing your creativity and the technical concepts specific to each discipline, particularly in musicality, connection and interpretation.

Perfectioning

You have been dancing for at least 5 years and regularly attend events in France or internationally. Dance has become an addiction! For highly dedicated, highly motivated dancers with strong potential, who are willing to challenge themselves by working on precise technical details to understand their finer nuances.

On the programme: work on technique (feel and visual expression), lead & follow (comfort and partnership), musicality (structure, accents, phrasing…), teamwork…
